Recypark - Les Marneurs
For the new Recypark in Anderlecht, a covered skatepark and public space were created along the Charleroi Canal — a place where reuse, water, and urban movement come together. The design draws on the origins of skate culture, which grew from repurposing empty pools and concrete structures, and extends this spirit through the use of reclaimed materials and flowing, water‑inspired forms.
The skatepark sits within the wider landscape of the Senne valley, echoing the traces of water that shaped Brussels. Its curves and lines follow the logic of a “snake run,” guiding skaters through a sequence of open and sheltered spaces. Around it, planted areas manage rainwater and create pockets of biodiversity, softening the industrial setting.
The result is a continuous public landscape — part skatepark, part urban garden — where reuse, water, and movement shape a new identity for the canal’s edge.
